The Australian Government has delayed the introduction of the new Support at Home program until 1 November 2025. The details of the program remain the same, helping older Australians stay independent and live safely in their own homes for longer. It will replace the current Home Care Package (HCP) and Short Term Restorative Care (STRC) programs.
The new system will offer more flexible, person-centred support, clearer service options, fairer pricing, and improved access to care. It reflects the growing desire of older Australians to stay connected to their communities, while making aged care more responsive to their changing needs.
This program is part of broader reforms under the Aged Care Act to deliver better care at home.
